In Intellectualism and Migration: International networks of European Culture in America (19th 21st centuries) a set of texts whose common denominator is the study of European migrations to America, between the nineteenth century and the present time, are gathered, paying special attention to the dialogue and intellectual ties that were generated or reinforced between both continents in relation to this mass phenomenon. This book presents, firstly, the works of specialists in migratory studies, who approach their investigations from different intellectual perspectives related to comparative history, social history and prosopography, such as those of Alejandro Fernández (National University of Luján, Argentina), on the Catalan intellectuals in Buenos Aires; José Moya (Columbia University) on the anarchists in Argentina; and Asunción Merino Hernando (National University of Distance Education, Spain) on the Spanish community in Buenos Aires; among others. Secondly are the studies published regarding outstanding intellectuals related to the migratory phenomenon, such as Gustavo H. Prado (Complutense University of Madrid, Spain) on the Americanist trip of Rafael Altamira; Emelina Martín (University of Burgos, Spain) about Mercedes Pinto; Juan Andrés Bresciano (University of the Republic, Uruguay) on the soprano Romarina Massardi; Alicia San Martín (Complutense University of Madrid, Spain) on the journey of Vicente Blasco Ibáñez to Argentina; Elda González (Superior Council of Scientific Investigations, Spain) on the visits of Ángel Gamboa Navarro and Leopoldo DOuzouville to Brazil; among others. Thirdly, there is the analysis of institutions that served as bridges between intellectuals from both sides of the Atlantic, such as the works of Antonio Niño (Complutense University of Madrid, Spain) on the Mexican Hispanic Institute; by José María López (Complutense University of Madrid, Spain) on the editorial policy of the CSIC; by Pilar Cagiao (University de Santiago de Compostela, Spain) and Gabriella Dalla Corte (University of Barcelona, Spain) on Casa de América of Barcelona. Fourthly, and lastly, there are papers on the emigration press, such as those by Alicia Gil (University of Sevilla, Spain) on Spanish journalists in Mexico during the revolution and post-revolution; and María del Mar Gutiérrez (El Colegio de México, México) on the newspaper Nación Española, among others. The resulting transversality has allowed us to offer a wide spectrum and at the same time specialized view of a polyhedral problem and extremely complex.
